The BA Liberal Arts (English Literature) program at JLU provides the student an opportunity to assess her/his aptitude and be able to carry it through the three years of discovery and interchange. The objective of this course is to enable the students to understand the literatures belonging to various ages and to be able to analyze and interpret the same. During the course the students will read and write on Shakespeare, Romantic poetry, Victorian poetry and the novel. They will also have ample space to delve into Nobel award-winning post-colonial works from Africa, Asia, North and Latin America, and Modern Europe. By doing an in depth study of the different authors and genres, the students will explore and enhance their horizons pertaining to language and literature. While studying the Literature course students are able to appreciate how ‘literary’ and ‘non-literary’ writing forms are related as rhetorical forms. While creating the enactments the students will become aware of the historical context related to various periods of English Literary history.

  • Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) qualification or an equivalent qualification in any discipline from a recognized board. The Common University Entrance Test (CUET) introduced for admission into all UG Programmes, 60% in qualifying exam JLUET followed by personal interview.
